I Love Oscar’s Room Again

19 Jan 2011

We moved a couple things around in Oscar’s room. And I’m so happy we did! Most notably we moved the giant corner cabinet out. Out the window to be precise. I wish I took a photo of that, but I was too busy trying not to drop it on Mark’s head. Oh, hold on, Mark has a shot from his phone:

Now the writing desk is out of the way, and the whole room feels right again. Hooray!
(It’s still ‘over-full’, but at least now you can get around.)

See all the space?!

The desk is now here in the corner when you walk in. I like that you can finally see the green wall touching the blue wall. It’s what we covered up all this time with the bookcase (5+ years).

My childhood bed. Isn’t it pretty? Don’t you just want to take a nap in the afternoon sun?

And, guess who likes Oscar’s room more than me?

New Pup In The Neighborhood

17 Jan 2011

Our upstairs neighbors, Izzie & Lachlan, got a new puppy! An 8 week old ‘Labradoodle’.

I’m sorry, the pics didn’t come out very good because it was just getting dark when we sat out on the stoop together. But she is gorgeous! It was fun timing – the Alperins and Cole & Kiera all came by. The puppy didn’t have a name yet, so the kids helped by suggesting names. Izzie wanted a Aussie name, and so with all our help, she chose Matilda, and we’ll call her Tillie! She is so sweet. Welcome to Page Street, Tillie!

Party Pics – Playing Catch Up

11 Jan 2011

Just what you need – December photos in January. But Kristi graciously shared her photos with us, and I’m just getting to that disc now.
Remember those cute gift tag cookies? Here’s the party that went with them! (UPDATE: And here’s the party blogged on SweetKiera.com)

Oscar’s First Sleepover

04 Jan 2011

Oscar could not stop talking about his planned sleepover. This was the item on the Mollard Family Visit agenda he wanted the most. He’d confirm what day was it was, who would be there, how I would come and get him in the morning. Grandma Bobbie’s is the dream date of sleepovers. What’s not to love: cozy, friendly, and everything a boy could want, in abundance. (food, video games etc.)
The inside scoop is that it was storming pretty fiercely that night. The house is big and old – the kind that makes noises in the night when the winds blow. Before bed Kristi checked in on them: Sam and Cole were already asleep (the moment their heads hit the pillows). Oscar’s eyes were the size of saucers. She said he looked resigned – this is what he’d been asking for, and here was the moment. Kristi decided to spare him the next hour of lying there wide awake. She offered Oscar a spot next to her bed, across the hall. He accepted quickly. She re-set him up, and then his head hit the pillow, and he was out too.

Reports of a large breakfast and rumors of 20 pancakes eaten the next morning.
Here’s the snap I took when I said good night.

We had a Rocky Mountain New Year

01 Jan 2011

Woo Hoo!
The Mollard family and Marnee Thai – What could be better. The kids got to do a night hunt for glow in the dark monster wiggley things. Twice. Mark called Melissa and put her on speaker phone. The kids were not, – repeat NOT – going to make it until SF midnight. So a Rocky Mountain New Year it was, with the gusto of 5 and 8 year old ‘bazookas’ blowing everything up. We did the countdown, and toasted with kisses and Martinelli’s. Cole Mollard and Lucy slept through it. Oscar was so funny – he had glazed eyes and seemed happily intoxicated. He confided to Uncle Cole, “This is very bubbly, but it’s good bubbles! I can handle good bubbles!” So Cheers to You and Yours! Hope your 2011 is the greatest!
