We had a Rocky Mountain New Year

01 Jan 2011

Woo Hoo!
The Mollard family and Marnee Thai – What could be better. The kids got to do a night hunt for glow in the dark monster wiggley things. Twice. Mark called Melissa and put her on speaker phone. The kids were not, – repeat NOT – going to make it until SF midnight. So a Rocky Mountain New Year it was, with the gusto of 5 and 8 year old ‘bazookas’ blowing everything up. We did the countdown, and toasted with kisses and Martinelli’s. Cole Mollard and Lucy slept through it. Oscar was so funny – he had glazed eyes and seemed happily intoxicated. He confided to Uncle Cole, “This is very bubbly, but it’s good bubbles! I can handle good bubbles!” So Cheers to You and Yours! Hope your 2011 is the greatest!

Slideshow of Pics from New Orleans

31 Dec 2010

Back in November, Mark & I took a wonderful trip to New Orleans with our friends. The core of the group have been friends since high school, and this year that group turned 40! Getting the group together in such numbers is unprecedented (outside of the San Francisco city limits). Alex we missed you! We thank all the family members who watched all the kids at home to make this grown up trip possible! And, a special thank you to Dave, who did an amazing job of sharing his other favorite city with us!

The Mollards are back in town – Hurray!

Carlo too!

Lucy’s Godparents

I saw Kristi and Carlo just a month ago in New Orleans, but there were no kids! As everyone knows, that’s a whole ‘nother ballgame. And anyways, it always feels too long when it’s good friends you’re missing. Bobbie’s house looks amazing! Its all spruced up. And so cozy! The storms are here. It was absolutely pouring outside. We had yummy treats from Arizmendi and chocolate marshmallows from See’s. Kristi made me tea. Sam and Cole were vying for who could give the baby the bottle. Booker and Thelma were hanging out together under the table. Sam thought the cat’s name was Velma (who can blame the guy? He knows his Scooby Doo). Oscar got a new Babe’s hat -Awesome.

I just love when friends come home for the holidays. It’s so exciting!

Nutcracker & Christmas Shopping

07 Dec 2010

Maria and Isabella treated Oscar and me to a terrific holiday outing on Saturday: ballet and shopping. Delightful!

We saw a performance by the San Francisco Youth Ballet, held at Mercy High School’s auditorium. It’s kid friendly, and had some very sweet and funny moments.

Oscar’s favorite part was the soldier and mouse battle. Of course.

After the dancing, we drove over to Fillmore Street, my favorite old stomping grounds. I miss that street! I used to walk it A Lot, 10 years ago.
We practically attacked the boulange Bay Bread for some must have snacks. Outside of France, they are the epicenter for the macaroon craze. We bought a few. I also dragged the group up to Peets. Mmmmmm. “Properly caffeinated” and so happy!

Maria and I noticed how easy and fun it was to just have our oldest kids with us. No strollers, no diapers. But more than that, it was nice to just have some quality time with the big kids.

Last we hit our main destination: Paper Source! No one did any major damage. (This night anyways).
The kids were running on sugar fumes at this point:

We will miss the Kellys over the holidays as they are off to Australia until the new year. This was a terrific chance to share a little holiday cheer. Thanks Mama!

Lucy’s First Birthday – Party Slideshow

08 Nov 2010

I’m very excited to share our party photos! Many thanks to Kiera for all her planning and baking – we had fun! Read about this on her blog too! – and to Kristi for sending love and supplies from afar. Also to Cole and Madie, for midnight sugar, the gorgeous cherry tree, and for giving Lucy something to eat. Best quote of the day came from Amanda, who grinned and shouted, “I want to live here!” What a compliment! And I can’t believe our little Lucy is One!!
