We’ve been very low key this summer.
No Camp July, even.
Kristi has had an illness, since last November, that I don’t think I’ve mentioned here, but until she is back to her fabulous self, we are all keeping low profile. That means no big plans or pressure-ful travel getaways. It’s actually been nice to be low key, speaking for myself. I’m just glad she’s here! Kristi is slowly but surely improving, so that’s the best part. Of course we are missing our Pace Family, and Camp July – I still need to post photos from last year! Soon, I hope.
But for now, our day-to-day SF summer has the added bonus of Mollard boys in it. Which is dreamy! I pretend they are my 10 and 14 year old nephews. In the spirit of low energy days, I have been low photo-count too. There will be no slideshow, and I’m feeling like, tradition aside, it’s no big deal. So here are my lackadaisical photos, so far (They’re in town until the 10th):

Off The Grid a.k.a. Truck Food
17 Jun 2011A typical San Francisco day.. sunny but kinda windy.
We went to Childrens Playground with some friends (Trevor, Will & Ben).
Lucy was in heaven – I know I need to take her to more playgrounds, more often.
Then we walked over to Stanyan to check out the food trucks that sort of ‘circle the wagons’ every Thursday evening. They have been growing in popularity, and I have been meaning to go check out this event (officially, Off The Grind: Upper Haight). Here’s a good blog article with pictures if you want more description.
The wind died down and it wasn’t crowded at all. It smelled fantastic. I have bought food at food trucks before, but the interesting thing here is how many trucks there are (11? at least.), and that they are all different and all good! None as cheap as a food truck should be, but at least it’s yummy. Jen, Shelly and I were in agreement, it’s not so ideal for picky eating kids. Oscar had a cheese quesidilla that I could have made him at home for cents. Whatever. It was fun for the moms. (Korean BBQ… mmmm. and pulled pork sandwich for Mark with hush puppies…)

10 Feb 2011Oscar This Morning at Clarendon
13 Sep 2010I think they do this every Monday morning. Nice way to start the day.
Update: “Raijo Taisou”
A description from our school:
This year, to experience a Japanese tradition, we’ll have Raijo Taisou time. We’ll do it once a month usually the first Monday of the Month at Upper and Lower Yards in the morning at 9:25am. Raijo Taisou is a traditional Japanese stretching exercise with music. It’s about 5 minutes long. This month’s session took place on Mon, Sept 13. Please join us in the yards. Please check out this Raijo Taisou movie on youtube. Thank you to JBBP Volunteers for sharing this tradition with Second Community Program! It was such fun participating in this physical activity and starting off the day on the right foot!
