August Opella Visit

18 Sep 2012

Another wonderful part of Carlo & Flor getting married, was that our far-away friends came to town.

Kristi & Rob flew in from Dallas, and Sarah flew in from Manhattan with August.
We hadn’t seen him is a while, and wow! So big, and handsome!!
I snapped these pics amid the happy chaos.

(Oscar wasn’t home because he was at school.)

This was an Instagram from the rehearsal dinner

This was our beloved table at the wedding.

This is one of those crappy phone pics that miraculously turns out awesome.

Madie and Alex are Hitched!

04 Jul 2012

UPDATE:
The Slideshow: https://oscarandlucy.com/wp-content/slideshows/2012/madie-and-alex/

This isn’t “the” kiss but wow… Hot! Also, I put some photos up on Natural Light Photography’s facebook page. Only a couple, though, so the slideshow will make full impact. :) I am so excited to plow through the stacks of files! I haven’t even seen them all yet..! Most photos are by Cole. Let it be known that this was his first 12 hour wedding! Chief and Kristi are also contributors. I need to check, but I think Kristi may have snapped this click? She was using Cole’s 200mm telephoto lens, which we nicknamed “the Hubble”.

It was a classic day by the bay: morning mist, fresh bright sun with encroaching fog through the Golden Gate. Blustery winds kept our homemade flags whipping loudly. There are some fun photos of Madie with her veil dancing above her head – coming soon. Alex was dashing, and his wedding vows packed some serious heat. Madie’s vows were equally beautiful. All the family and friends were smiling and so happy. Lucy slept in her stroller as Oscar took the dance floor by force. It was an amazing wedding. The slideshow will be coming soon (if I’m not too much of a slacker…)
Congrats Madie and Alex – I ♥ U!!

Pom Pom Wars

27 Jan 2012

I just saw this blog post and I’m laughing.

Oscar & Lucy have Pom Pom Wars all the time. (me too) (Lucy, “me three!”)
I Never thought to have one at a wedding.
Throwing pom poms is a lot of fun. They throw really well, and don’t hurt, even when you get nailed.

We first discovered pom poms when Kristi mailed us some for Lucy’s first birthday.
Now I try to keep some on hand for whenever the mood strikes.

(these are the bigger size – my favorite for pom pom wars)

Mark To Germany

08 Sep 2011

We dropped Daddy at the airport today. He’s off to his cousin’s wedding, near Stuttgart.
He’ll join his parents, sister Karen, and many of his aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be back Tuesday the 13th.

(Whooo hooo! Daddys gone – PARTY! – – – – oh, wait.)

In the meantime my friend Beth is here for the weekend with her Adorable son Adrian.
This is Adrian this morning, about to ride his first cable car:

Have a safe journey Mark (Send photos!) Congratulations Dirk and Jeannine! Happy Wedding! ♥

UPDATE:
We had so much fun too!

Travel Posters

12 Jun 2011

My folks are thinking of going to Venice for their 40th Wedding anniversary!
I’m getting kinda sentimental with all the love stories happening around here…
Here are Vicki and Jim (a.k.a. Nana and Chief) on their wedding day, back in 1971:

So I hope Venice works out for them! It’s one of the few Epic places in Europe they haven’t been yet!

These posters are so classic (circa 1920): (click to enlarge)

(This one is sooo pretty too, but not relevant…)

A New Love (P)Interest

11 Mar 2011

I am diving into a new website, full of eye candy and inspiration. Its called pinterest.com.
Users create photo bookmarks of things they love, and organize them on inspiration “boards”.
You can post things you have, or find, or you can re-post from others’ boards.

Here are a couple of screen shots of my boards (click to see larger):

Above, part of my “Home Inspiration” Board

Below, part of my “Weddings” board.

The site isn’t without problems. It has lots of functionality bugs – probably due to growing pains. And, it relies on people to credit the right sources (which they don’t – at least not reliably). Actually, it’s bit of an attribution nightmare.

On the plus side, it’s socially networked (which makes it fun), and there isn’t any ugly advertising. It’s a great idea – collections upon collections of beautiful things.
