We are all on COUSIN WATCH around here…
So I have nothing scheduled, on purpose.
(You thought it was hard waiting for the Royal Baby?!)
And hence, a random trip to the Academy.
Oscar was proud that he knew the way to the museum. He bikes this street with Mark on Sundays when the street is closed to traffic. He became our official tour guide.
I love these guys. I have an unexplained love of wreaths like this..
Lucy pretended she was a statue too.
Welcome to the Academy. (ajjjjjjgghhhhh)
The exhibit “Built for Speed” is terrific.
Oscar reminded me that we might see an Orca when we travel to the Oregon Coast next month.
I just thought it was fun to see him on a throwback ‘corded’ phone.
We talked about which big fish are caught for food. I told him how I love to eat tuna as sushi.
We read about sustainability. I think it sunk in. More on that in a bit.
The big aquarium is filled with Northern California fish.
Did you know starfish are now called sea stars? Fishy.
We went to the roof. Oscar found a little pocket sized guide to eating fish. He read every word and tried to teach me which were ok and which weren’t. Ironically he doesn’t like to eat fish, but he had no trouble explaining how it depends how a yellow fin tuna is caught, before you’re clear to eat it.
If you are interested in Seafood Watch information, the website is here. (They also have a free app.)
It would have been a great day to bring my DSLR, but I forgot it. 3 cheers for my little iPhone 5!
