Playgroup Birthday Party – The Big Five

15 Sep 2010

Our beloved playgroup kids have all turned five this year! Such a great milestone. We had a potluck party for them on Sunday. I didn’t take pictures (well, one.) I was too busy enjoying myself and as Oscar says, “chit-chatting” with the parents. The weather held; not great but not bad. Highlights included Anya’s gorgeous T’s as party favors, and Shelly’s “Spin Art” machine that was a great break from the jump house. By the way – Rossi Annex – Who knew? Oh, and Mark brought his mini TV so we could watch the Giants beat the Padres to tie for the lead in the pennant race. As always, click to see the photos bigger.

I will put more photos here if I get any from other parents.

Backyard Find

14 Sep 2010

Oscar found this little bottle buried in the backyard. It was buried in the ground, but found sunlight when I dug a hole for a plant. Oscar was looking for worms int he dirt, of which we have many, but found something much prettier! I wonder what it was used for? Maybe perfume? I helped him clean his treasure, and then we put it to use as Page Street’s Smallest Vase.

Oscar This Morning at Clarendon

13 Sep 2010

I think they do this every Monday morning. Nice way to start the day.

Oscar performing Raijo Taisou

Update: “Raijo Taisou”
A description from our school:
This year, to experience a Japanese tradition, we’ll have Raijo Taisou time. We’ll do it once a month usually the first Monday of the Month at Upper and Lower Yards in the morning at 9:25am. Raijo Taisou is a traditional Japanese stretching exercise with music. It’s about 5 minutes long. This month’s session took place on Mon, Sept 13. Please join us in the yards. Please check out this Raijo Taisou movie on youtube. Thank you to JBBP Volunteers for sharing this tradition with Second Community Program! It was such fun participating in this physical activity and starting off the day on the right foot!
