Oscar – A Mini Update

30 Nov 2012

Cole took this – I love it!
Oscar came along on an official Natural Light photo-shoot last weekend.
He wants to be a photographer when he grows up. Isn’t that awesome?!

People keep singing “All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth” – Of course Oscar has never even heard the song, and just thinks it’s weird.

Oscar loves video games now. He plays this on our new iPad Mini.

“Photobooth”
Mark and I had our parent-teacher conference with his AMAZING teacher, Prudence Hull. She thinks he’s doing perfectly. Just where he should be. I thought about putting his report card here, but I don’t need to. It’s all 3s, not a single 2. “Student consistently demonstrates mastery of the standard”. She said he’s a pleasure ♥.

Soccer is over. It was great in so many ways.
We are eagerly looking forward to coach pitch baseball in the spring.

Lucy is 3 – Plus 2 Carnivals and Soccer

28 Oct 2012

So many photos. I’m sorry but I’m just going to dump them in a virtual pile.
There is no way to do captions like this, but if you have a question, ask it in the comment section and I’ll reply.

ps –
Oscar learned to play Happy Birthday on the piano. Here is an early recording:

A Beautiful Forest

30 Mar 2012

Lucy looked up at the cypress canopy and exclaimed with joy,
“Ooooh Mommy! What a beauuuuutiful forest!”

This is the same reverent voice she uses when she talks about magic and princesses.
(Last week she said I was “Queen Mommy”. I rather like the sound of that.)

Lucy’s First Soccer

19 Feb 2012

Did you know they have soccer for 2 year olds?
It’s kinda silly, but fun – if the weather is nice (it was). And if you like the coach (I really do!). Actually there were two coaches – horribly excessive considering the talent of these soccer playing professionals. Over qualified is an understatement, but they coach all the different age-groups in “Soccer Kids“, so I get it. Coach Tim is Oscar’s coach, of the Lightening Strikers. They play on Saturdays, with late afternoon practice on Thursdays.
Tim invited me to come to a couple of weekday morning 2-3 y.o. practices with Lucy for free.

Lucy is not quite ready for organized sports yet. The “practices” were fine, but I won’t be signing up for the next session. She has plenty of time. In the fall she will begin preschool. The way it will go, due to her October birthday, is she’ll have 2 years of preschool, followed by a year of pre-K, before enrolling at Clarendon for kindergarten.

Still, it was a fun moment for me to be there for her first practice ever on a field! I was inspired! May there be many more!

Oscar’s First Soccer Game

24 Sep 2011

We had so much fun! Oscar tried really hard, so I’m very proud of him. What he lacked in experience, he made up for in tenacity.

This is not remotely the whole team. And, they wisely split us into two games side by side, so everyone get lots of playing time. Look how fired up Oscar is!

Lightening Striker Defense!

We didn’t win the game, but we scored a few goals. It was fun to see their celebration.
