Oscar’s First Piano Song That We Recognise

13 Sep 2012

There are other pieces that he has been playing and practicing, but this one is kind of special because it’s famous!
I took this minutes after his lesson, when he had played it for the absolute first time.
So, this is actually his 3rd time playing it.

He was pretty excited, though he doesn’t show it in the video. Here is a self-portrait, posted a few minutes later on his Instagram:

Mystery Haircut

06 Jun 2012

We don’t know when, but it appears that Lucy has taken the scissors into her own hands.

It could have been a lot worse.
She says she did the deed in Oscar’s room, but I haven’t found any hair evidence.
Weird, but Anna can fix it. Which is good, because there is a wedding in 3 weeks!

She’s been drawing on herself a lot too. What with all the self-body art happening, I’m getting high blood pressure. Did I mention how much I love Oscar? How good he is?

Summer Vacation Is Here

31 May 2012

So far the kids are making the adjustment to being together all day.
I hear cries of discontentment, but usually they work it out. It’s like a dog’s bark – sounds sooo annoying, but doesn’t mean that much. I keep reminding Oscar that Lucy is only two (and is really obnoxious lately). He has more patience than I do!
Big plans include catching up with Kristi, Sam and Cole, who are here in SF for June!
Madie’s wedding is June 30th! Camp July is in Denver – can’t wait! and August has us off camping and Disneylanding. Mix in some home improvement, sports and piano lessons, and we are all full! (well, as full as I want to be) Hooray!

Camping With Clarendon SC’s 1st Grades

22 May 2012

We had so much fun, and Oscar wants to go back again, asap.
I considered it a “warm up” for real camping, because this was too easy!
This is where we stayed, in Cloverdale:

The kabins have electricity, and are even nicer than the Lair. Oscar ran around, or biked, unsupervised, with his buddies. Well, not completely unsupervised, – all the parents participated in an informal zone defense. The kids played pick up wiffle ball, and who knows what else. Something called Everybody It Tag. It was awesome to hang out with the families.
We got to leave Lucy with Omi & Opi, so we could relax, and drink, and not worry about Lucy kamikazeing into the lake. Thanks Omi! (Lucy did great)

Weekend in Sebastopol

30 Apr 2012

A sunny and warm weekend!

We are off to Kathy’s (next door).

The pool was so quiet you could hear the bees buzzing around the lavender.

Kathy leant Oscar some fun goggles.

Goofing off

A wild turkey, who made a break for it when I showed up.

The apple trees are still in bloom

Meet Jake. He belongs to a neighbor.

Teenager Chickens

Oscar can’t quite catch one yet, so Mark helped. I think it’s great when the kids can pet the chickens.
